Marrakech Acquisition Cements Number One Position In UK Spend Management Market

- Acquires leading product information management software provider for broader spend management offering

October 11, 2005 - On-demand spend management specialist Marrakech has acquired Reqio - a leading European product information management (PIM) software provider. Marrakech has acquired the company's assets, customers and products.

Reqio, a UK-headquartered company founded in 2001, provides software designed to manage and publish content and contracts for both buyers and suppliers. The company has a large presence in the public sector, including key contracts with the NHS Purchasing and Supply Authority (PASA) and the Scottish Executive.

In conjunction with the acquisition Marrakech has opened a new development office in Bath, as well as consolidating operations in London between the two companies.

The acquisition will continue to build on Marrakech's leadership in on-demand spend management opening important new markets and adding a powerful contract and product repository that will add significant new capability for existing customers.

"This acquisition represents the start of an exciting period of growth for us," said John Bantleman, CEO at Marrakech. "Marrakech is now uniquely positioned to help companies manage buyers, supplier and contracts in a single on-demand environment."

Bantleman continued: "Reqio's products have proved their effectiveness in numerous customer deployments, and their contract and catalogue management is best-in-class - our customers can expect to see the new products integrated very quickly. As the company moves in to the USA, combining our products with Reqio's will mean greatly enhanced commercial opportunities in the public and private sectors."
